In the Ming and Qing dynasties, China’s silk industry expanded on a larger scale, with specialized production centers such as Suzhou and Hangzhou. The silk produced in these regions was renowned worldwide for its refinement and exquisite patterns. Meanwhile, after the Renaissance, Europe gradually acquired silk-making techniques, but high-quality silk still largely depended on imports from China. Silk was not only a commodity but also a symbol of cultural exchange.
