During the Tang and Song dynasties, silk production reached a new peak. Silk was widely used not only in clothing but also in painting, Buddhist art, and palace decorations. Chinese silk enjoyed a prestigious reputation and was often presented as diplomatic gifts to neighboring countries, symbolizing friendship and prosperity. As techniques spread, countries such as Korea and Japan gradually learned sericulture and silk weaving, yet Chinese silk continued to maintain its unique prestige.
