The History of Silk (1/5)

Silk is one of the most remarkable inventions of ancient China, with a history that can be traced back more than five thousand years. According to archaeological discoveries, silk fabric fragments and silkworm cocoons were unearthed in sites from the late Neolithic period, proving that people had already begun raising silkworms and developing the earliest silk-weaving techniques. Legend has it that Leizu, the wife of the Yellow Emperor, was the first to discover silk. She not only domesticated silkworms but also taught people how to reel silk from cocoons and weave cloth, earning her the title of the "Ancestor of Sericulture."
