Silk artifacts from the Shang and Western Zhou dynasties are mostly found as impressions on bronze and jade objects. Research on these impressions reveals that by then there were already patterned damask fabrics, leno weaves, and warp-faced compound tabby brocades, and embroidery and dyeing techniques had also appeared.
